About Me

Hi there!

My name is Sophie and I’m the Student Engagement Coordinator for CFANS. I’m so glad you’re here!

I grew up in Bemidji, Minnesota and went to Hamline University for my undergrad where I earned my B.A. in Music and Social Justice. As an undergraduate student, I worked in the theatre, in our orientation program, I was the president of Hamline Students for Reproductive Justice and founded our Zine Club. I held multiple internships focused in LGBTQIA+ community health, marketing and communications. For my senior capstone project, I created a podcast that told the stories of LGBTQIA+ people living in rural Minnesota. While working full-time in CFANS, I am also in graduate school! I will be graduating with my Masters in Leadership in Student Affairs from the University of St. Thomas in May 2025.

I am an artist that participates in many mediums, most notably zine-making, photography, music, and sound design. My passions include cooking & eating, equitable education, fat liberation, laughing, artistic activism, and cultivating joy.

About My Role as Student Engagement Coordinator

My role aims to increase student engagement at CFANS through intentional programming that fosters an inclusive environment for our students. I serve as an advisor to the CFANS Undergraduate Student Board, support CFANS Student Organizations, and supervise our CFANS Student Engagement Team (CSET). CSET offers a wide range of programs and events throughout the year that aim to encourage students to engage with one another on campus. Some of these events include celebrations of First-Gen and Transfer Students, end of semester parties, resume workshops, an extensive leadership certification program, and so much more!

My goal as the Student Engagement Coordinator is to help you navigate our campus community and get you connected with people and programs that you’re most interested in. Please stop by Coffey Hall 197 to visit our CSET office and meet our team! We often have treats and always have games. If you ever have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
