The CFANS Difference

Seeking doers, makers, dreamers

We develop tomorrow's leaders by providing an exceptional hands-on experience that fosters curiosity and creative thinking. Every student graduates from the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) with real-world experience in their field of interest.

Being located in St. Paul means that our students have access to food science labs, animal barns, greenhouses, an engineering makerspace, and 160 acres of land used for research and learning.

Our college has a legacy of engaging scholars to find solutions to some of the world's grandest challenges, such as feeding a rapidly growing population, managing our natural resources — like forests and wildlife — and conserving and protecting them for generations to come.

We take academics seriously too. Our core themes extend from food and agriculture to business and technology and from sustainability and the environment to healthy humans, plants, and animals. This means we're inherently interdisciplinary, which gives students a chance to explore scholastic intersections as they relate to local, national and global issues.
