Gopher Football: Celebrate Ag and Food Day

9 a.m. until game starts
TCF Stadium

The U of M will honor Minnesota ag and food industries at the Sept 20 Gopher football game! Join CFANS before the game (9 a.m. onward) for fun and tailgating outside the stadium, including free brats and cheese from our Meat Lab and Dairy Store. RSVP for the pre-game Tailgate. People's Climate March

Join student group Fossil Free Minnesota at this public march in New York. This promises to be the biggest march in the history of the climate movement, and will coincide with an unprecedented UN meeting on climate change. Land O'Lakes Global Food Challenge and Internship
Application deadline: September 24, 2014
open to sophomores
The U of M and the Land O'Lakes company have partnered to offer this special program to address global food security. Up to 3 sophomores will be chosen. The program features a paid Land O'Lakes internship in summer 2015, plus special events and challenges during this school year. The internship includes international travel and a focus on food and ag issues. By 2050, the world may face serious agricultural threats and widespread hunger. Upcoming Scholarship Deadlines

$100 Conference Grants for CFANS Students
1st deadline: September 29, 2014
In 2014–15, CFANS will offer 25 $100 grants to pay for expenses incurred to attend regional, national, and international conferences for professional and/or academic development related to CFANS majors. Deadlines are the last Monday of each month. See guidelines and application.

$500 Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation Scholarships
Deadline: September 30, 2014
Applicants must be juniors or seniors in a major related to agriculture, conservation, or forestry. Eligible applicants must be Farm Bureau members (individual or family membership). Learn more.

$5,000 Throlson American Bison Foundation Scholarship
Deadline: October 1, 2014
Scholarships totaling $5,000 are available for juniors, seniors or grad students studying bison or fields related to the bison industry. The scholarship is for the spring 2015 semester. Learn more.

Upcoming Academic Calendar Dates

–Sept 9: last day to add fall classes without instructor approval
–Sept 9: 100% refund deadline for canceling fall classes
–Sept 13: first fall payment due
–Sept 15: last day to add fall classes without college approval
–Sept 15: last day to cancel fall classes and not receive a "W" on transcript; last day to change grade basis (letter grade or pass-fail)
–Sept 15: 75% refund deadline for canceling fall classes
–Sept 22: 50% refund deadline for canceling fall classes
–Sept 29: last day to submit a 13-Credit Exemption Request via One Stop
