Continuing Education Center
This annual, public event is a casual way to hear about the incredible research going on at CFANS, and to see a variety of CFANS faculty in action. Invite your family, attend with friends, or volunteer! (Volunteers get free admission and meals.) Attend any presentation that interests you. This year's topics include grocers in rural Minnesota, cows and technology, recreation on the North Shore, Midwestern hops, and more. Learn more & register. Sponsored by the CFANS Alumni Society.
Join the CFANS Undergraduate Student Board for the first ever CFANS Spirit Day! Multiple events will be going on throughout the afternoon. Your RSVP is appreciated to help with prep & planning for food, but not required to attend. Event line-up:
3 - 4 p.m. - CFANS Interactive Booths: learn all about CFANS history, research, majors, clubs and more. Enjoy free CFANS ice cream while supplies last!
4 - 4:30 p.m. - Lifeboat Lectures: CFANS faculty will battle for your votes for the last space on a hypothetical lifeboat. Watch your professors plead their cases.
4:30 - 6 p.m. - Food & Music: grab some free food from Turkey to Go (non-meat options will also be available). Live music from local indie artist Israel Roemer will start at 5 p.m.
Join CFANS leadership, faculty, staff, and students for an open conversation about what the college can do to ensure that individuals with disabilities on our campus feel valued, respected and engaged. Staff from the Disability Resource Center (DRC) will share about the social model lens for understanding disability, and present resources to increase access for everyone. Free lunch included! Please RSVP to reserve a spot at the table.
Join Team CFANS for Relay for Life

Join Team CFANS for the 2016 Relay for Life at the University Fieldhouse on April 22. For the past six years, Team CFANS has been participating in the University of Minnesota Relay for Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Each year, more than 4 million people in over 20 countries raise much-needed funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through Relay for Life events.
To join Team CFANS, go to the UofM Relay for Life page, click on "Sign Up" and then select Team CFANS and complete your registration. Come to the team meeting on April 14 to learn more about Relay and how you can help! Questions? Contact Michelle Overtoom at email@example.com.
Small World Coffee Hour

CFANS Student Organization Grants Available!
Does your student organization have an event coming up? Consider applying for a grant from the CFANS Undergraduate Student Board for up to $350 to support your event! Grant applications should be submitted at least 2 weeks prior to the planned activity. See details and requirements, and apply for a grant online.
Apply for a CFANS International Learning Grant
Apply by: April 13 (for study abroad programs held during Fall Semester 2016)
Are you planning to study abroad next fall? CFANS undergraduates in good academic standing can apply for an International Learning Grant to support international study, internship, work or volunteer experiences related to an academic degree program. Typical award amounts are $600 to $900 for short-term programs, $1,200 for semester programs, and $2,400 for academic year programs. The grant can be applied to any study abroad experience that results in academic credit. Learn more and apply.

Graduating Soon? Review Your APAS!
Seniors graduating this spring/summer should check your APAS report to be sure it's accurate. If it's not, that might delay or stop your degree clearance process. Contact CFANS Student Services if you need guidance.
Check Your Email for Commencement Invitation and Instructions
Seniors graduating this spring/summer were recently sent an email from CFANS Associate Dean Mike White, officially inviting you to the CFANS Commencement Ceremony, which is May 13. Be sure to follow the email's instructions and register for commencement if you want to attend the ceremony.

Upcoming Scholarship Deadlines
Apply for Sigma Xi Membership & Scholarships
Apply by: April 8
Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society, U of M Chapter is inviting application for membership as well as nominations for student cash awards and prize opportunities. Membership requires nomination by two Sigma Xi members. Complete the application form online, or contact email@example.com with questions.
Land O'Lakes Scholarships for Transfer Students - $5,000
Apply by: April 15
CFANS is offering multiple scholarships worth $5000 each, through the Land O'Lakes Multifunctional Agricultural and Food Systems Scholarship. The scholarship is potentially renewable for a second year, provided recipients participate in the co-curriculum program and maintain a 3.0 GPA. This scholarship is open to any student transferring into CFANS for the 2016-17 academic year who is pursuing one of the following majors: Agricultural Education, Agricultural and Food Business Management, Agricultural Communication and Marketing, Environmental Science, Policy and Management, Food Systems, and Plant Science. Feed Energy Company Scholarships - $2,500
Apply by: April 30
Feed Energy offers two $2,500 scholarships to students in the Midwest (including Minnesota) who are studying an agriculture-related major. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and submit references, a resume, and an essay. Find more information and apply.
