Environmental Internship & Career Fair

U of M Job and Internship Fair
Friday, February 19
10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Minneapolis Convention Center
Attend the largest student career fair in Minnesota! More than 300 organizations will be there recruiting for hundreds of jobs and internships. Open to all U of M students and alumni from the past three years. Registration fee includes a professional head shot. $10 in advance, $25 at the door. See details.

Apply for an Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) Scholarship!
Apply by: February 29
Undergraduates interested in working on a research project this coming summer or fall can qualify for a $1400 research scholarship and $300 for supplies/ expenses.
Students who haven't already identified a project idea or who aren't sure about the possibilities are encouraged to view a list of UROP project ideas submitted by CFANS faculty members and contact faculty to develop a UROP proposal. Another resource for identifying potential faculty sponsors is the list of CFANS faculty members who have served as research sponsors to past UROP students, and the university-wide list of faculty research sponsors by department from the UROP website.

St. Paul Campus Survey Results
Nearly 300 students provided responses for the fall semester's St. Paul campus survey conducted by the Minnesota Student Association (MSA). Results can be viewed via Google document; bolded statements are results that were most prominent and surfaced to the top. Survey results will help determine priorities of St. Paul campus students as MSA considers campus issues this semester. Sign Up for the New St. Paul Cross-Cultural Discussion Group
Thursdays, 2 - 3:30 p.m.
Mid-February - early May
Meet other St. Paul students from a variety of nationalities and majors in a relaxed and fun atmosphere to discuss global topics, share cross-cultural experiences and explore new ways of thinking. The St. Paul group will meet weekly starting in mid-February and will be co-facilitated by a representative from International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) and Laura Dupont-Jarrett, Chief of Staff for the Associate Dean of Academic Programs & Faculty Affairs (CFANS).

Upcoming Scholarship Deadlines
CFANS Academic Year Scholarships - $500 - $5,000
Apply by: March 1
Apply for a CFANS scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year. All CFANS majors can apply for a college scholarship and several departments also use the same form, so you can fill out one application and be considered for both college and department awards. Some restrictions apply - see eligibility guidelines and application.
Upper Midwest Dairy Industry Association Scholarship - $1,000
Apply by: January 31
For students pursuing a degree in Animal Science with dairy production emphasis or Dairy Food Science. See application materials.
FFA Scholarships - $1,000
Apply by: February 1
FFA members and non-members are invited to apply for national scholarship awards from 100+ sponsoring organizations including Cargill, DEKALB, Land O'Lakes Purina Feed, Monsanto, National Mastitis Council and Rose Acre Farms. Visit the FFA website for details.
Astronaut Scholarships - $10,000
Apply by: February 1
The University of Minnesota will put forward up to four sophomores or juniors interested in research careers and majoring in math, science, or engineering for nationally competitive Astronaut Scholarships. Students must be nominated by a faculty member in their major and seconded by another. Email email@example.com for more information.
AgStar Scholars Program - $2,000
Apply by: February 2
The AgStar Scholars Program through AgStar Financial Services provides education, support and insight to students interested in Ag financing or Ag-related careers. CFANS students in their Junior year are eligible to apply for the program. Visit the AgStar website to find more information.
Winfield Careers in Agriculture Scholarship Program - $1,000
Apply by: February 5
Winfield is offering 10 $1,000 scholarships to college freshmen and sophomores. Must be interested in agronomy, crop production, or related fields. See application details.
Katherine E. Sullivan Scholarship for Study Abroad - $25,000
Apply by: February 5
Administered by the University Honors Program and the Office of International Programs, this scholarship provides an opportunity for seniors at any campus of the University of Minnesota to enrich their academic experience with a fifth year of undergraduate study in another country, up to $25,000. Visit the University Honors Program website for further details.
