Upcoming Events 

Recess!
Friday, April 29 11:30 a.m.
Coffman Memorial Union, Front Plaza
Take a break from studying for some good, old-fashioned recess. Join in on basketball, hula-hoop, four-square and other yard games and activities. Free snacks while supplies last.

Camp Gopher Spot
Saturday, April 30 | 5 p.m.
St. Paul Student Center
Take a hike and bowl at Camp Gopher Spot. A $5 cover includes bowling, Qdoba (while supplies last) and a chance to win camping themed prizes.

Exam Jam: Prep for Finals
April 30 - May 7
Prepare for finals by connecting with other students for tutoring, exam review workshops, sample tests, food, and more!

Exam Jam Saturday Tutoring:

  • April 30, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., 140 Appleby Hall (hosted by the Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence). Breakfast and lunch will be served!
  • May 7, 1 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., 131A and 412 Bruininks Hall (hosted by the SMART Learning Commons).

Review sessions for select math, chemistry, CSCI, and physics courses will be held Saturday, May 7. Complete details, including tutoring schedules and review session descriptions can be found on the Exam Jam website. 


College News & Announcements

Congratulations CFANS Graduates!
The CFANS undergraduate commencement ceremony is May 13. Congratulations to our graduating students for their hard work and accomplishments!

Undergraduate Research Symposium
The Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual poster fair that gives all undergraduate researchers a chance to share their research, scholarly and creative projects with the University community. Whether you have done your research through a credit experience, through employment or through UROP or another program, you are welcome to register for the Symposium and present your poster.

This year, the Undergraduate Symposium will be held in conjunction with the Winchell Undergraduate Research Symposium. Winchell provides students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) a chance to present in poster format or in an oral presentation and includes the opportunity for presentations to be judged as well as a dinner. Winchell registration closes soon so visit the site right away if you are interested in this portion of the April 29 event.

Location: Coffman Memorial Union, Great Hall
Cost: FREE

CFANS Students will be presenting their posters at the following 2 sessions:
Session 1: 9:45 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.
Session 2: 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.


Upcoming Scholarship Deadlines    

Izaak Walton League of America Scholarship
Apply by: May 15
The Minnesota Division Izaak Walton League of America will award scholarship(s) of up to $1,000 to assist applicants who enter or continue in an education program in Environmental Education, Environmental Law, Wildlife Management, or some other conservation-oriented program. See the scholarship application.

Minnesota Pork Industry Scholarship
Apply by: May 15
The Minnesota Pork Board will award up to five $1,000 scholarships to individuals who are pursuing careers with an emphasis in pork. Among qualifying educational pursuits are agribusiness, agricultural engineering, agronomy, animal science, animal physiology, environmental sciences, nutrition, livestock reproduction, large animal veterinary medicine and other related fields. Syngenta Agricultural Scholarship
Apply by: May 26
Syngenta is awarding a total of $20,000 in scholarships for students majoring in an agriculture-related field. Students must write an essay as part of the application. Access the scholarship application and additional information.

National Poultry & Food Distributors Association Scholarship
Apply by: May 31
The NPFDA awards $1,500-$2,000 scholarships to upcoming juniors and seniors in the fields of poultry science, food science, agricultural economics/marketing, nutrition and all other areas of study related to the poultry industry. Learn more and apply.
