The CFANS leadership team invites you to a luncheon to discuss the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (LGBTQ) climate in our college; the student perspective is critical to ensure the LGBTQ community is valued, respected and engaged. Hands-On: Applying for Federal Internships and Jobs

230 Learning & Environmental Sciences Computer Lab
Attend this Career & Internship Services workshop and learn how to use usajobs.gov to find upcoming internships and jobs. Staff from the US Fish and Wildlife Service, National Park Service, National Resource Conservation Corps and US Forest Service will be on hand to help you craft your "federal resume." Stay for networking and free pizza after!
Small World Coffee Hour
Friday, November 20
4 - 6 p.m.
Do you enjoy meeting people from all over the world? Do you like learning about a different culture, while enjoying delicious food and homemade coffee? Small World Coffee Hour holds free monthly events in St. Paul where you will get to do just that! Hold the date for the next event on November 20 - Finding Fermented Food. You will get to go on a culinary adventure and try fermented foods from all over the world. Location is still TBD - like them on Facebook to stay in the loop.

Consider Applying to the University Honors Program!
Apply by: February 3
If you are a highly-motivated student and intend to participate in research, scholarship, or artistic activity under the guidance of a faculty mentor, you may wish to apply for the University Honors Program (UHP). Participation provides invidualized academic advising, increased access to special courses and faculty across colleges, a close-knit community of driven and accomplished students, and the opportunity to graduate with Latin Honors. Applicants must have a 3.5+ GPA and a planned graduation date of spring 2018 or later. Attend an info session to learn more!
Gopher Spot Call for Artists
Submission deadline: December 4
Student Unions & Activities is looking for artists to submit their work to be exhibited in the Gopher Spot. To celebrate the St. Paul Campus, entries should have a nature or food theme. Those that incorporate ideas of food justice and security, environmental sustainability, or the St. Paul Campus will have a competitive edge. A committee will select the top 5 entries to be displayed for the Spring 2016 semester. Winners receive a $50 gift card to the U of MN Bookstore! Scholarships with Upcoming Deadlines
Harry S. Truman Scholarship - $30,000
Apply by: November 9
The University of Minnesota will nominate up to four juniors of any major who are dedicated to careers in public service for Truman Scholarships, which award $30,000 for graduate study. Email email@example.com for more information.
Charlie Parnell Memorial Scholarship - $500
Apply by: November 15
Awarded by the Minnesota Erosion Control Association (MECA) to a student who wishes to pursue a degree in civil engineering or natural resources with an interest in erosion and sediment control or stormwater management. See more information.
Goldwater Scholarship - $7,500
Apply by: November 23
The University of Minnesota will nominate up to four sophomores or juniors interested in research careers and majoring in math, science, or engineering for nationally competitive Goldwater Scholarships ($7500 per year for undergraduate education). New Look Laser Tattoo Removal Semiannual Scholarship - $1000
Apply by: November 30
This merit-based scholarship is for students pursuing higher education with an emphasis in one of the following fields: nursing, medicine, natural or applied sciences, or engineering. Visit their website to find more information.
Lake Minnetonka Garden Club Scholarship - $2,500
Apply by: December 1
Lake Minnetonka Garden Club (LMGC) will provide up to $2500 annually, awarded to one student or divided between two students. Scholarships will be awarded on merit with consideration given to GPA, letters of recommendation, community activities, associations or organizations, work experience and plans after graduation. MN Chapter, American Fisheries Society Scholarship $500
Apply by: December 1
The Minnesota Chapter of the American Fisheries Society (MN AFS) will be offering at least one $500 scholarship to a Minnesota undergraduate pursuing a degree in fisheries, water resources, aquatic biology, or aquatic environmental science. Open to juniors and seniors; you must be an MN AFS member (membership is free to students). See the details on the MN AFS website.
