How to Create Posters for Classes or Conferences

CFANS Speed Networking Event

Make professional connections and practice your networking skills! This is a great opportunity to talk to successful local alumni and professionals, learn about their career paths, and discuss your interests. Dress is business casual; light dinner served. Register.

Major Madness Workshop
Friday, February 27
1 to 4:30 p.m.
STSS Building, East Bank campus

Are you thinking of changing your major? Need to declare? This interactive workshop helps you explore your interests and plug them into a major. You'll talk with advisers, career coaches and fellow students. $10. Hosted by CAPE, the Center for Academic Planning and Exploration.

Tell Your Sustainability Story
deadline: March 6
Do you have a project with a sustainability angle? Share your work and ideas with fellow students and faculty. Submit an abstract (a few paragraphs describing your project) by March 6 to participate in the April 10 Sustainability Symposium. Submission categories: poster; lightning talk; or multimedia piece. Presenters are entered to win an iPad mini.

Share Your CFANS Experiences With Visiting 8th Graders
date options: March 11, April 7, 8, 10, 16 or 30
CFANS will host groups of local 8th graders this semester on the St. Paul campus. Help them have fun getting to know our college! You can volunteer to: give tours, lead them to educational sessions, or be in a student panel discussing campus life, college prep and more. Volunteer for the March or April dates.

Honor a Grad Student Assistant for Teaching You Well
deadline: March 13, 2015
If you take a CFANS undergrad class that has a helpful graduate teaching assistant, show your appreciation! Nominate them for a new CFANS award that honors grad students who are excellent teachers. Nominations require forms and paperwork that must be submitted by March 13.

Upcoming Scholarship Deadlines

Cargill Global Scholars Program, $2500
apply by March 1, 2015
Open to first- or second-year students, this scholarship program offers $2500/year for up to 3 years, along with mentorship, leadership training, and the potential to attend a global conference. See details. Register for an account so you can apply.

National Garden Clubs Scholarships, $3500
apply by March 1, 2015
These $3500 scholarships are open to students focused on horticulture or the environment.

Wildlife Leadership Awards, $2000
apply by March 1, 2015
Multiple $2000 awards are available for juniors or seniors with a major that focuses on wildlife conservation or management. Apply through the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.

CFANS Academic-Year Scholarships, $2000 to $5000
apply by March 2, 2015
Final reminder! All CFANS majors can apply for a CFANS scholarship for the 2015–2016 school year. Hundreds of CFANS students will receive these scholarships. Apply very soon. See eligibility guidelines and application.
