Fund Your Big Idea Through the Acara Challenge

Do you have an idea to change the world? Win $6000! The Acara Challenge is an annual impact venture competition to reward UMN students creating solutions to social and environmental challenges. Acara is the impact entrepreneurship program of the U of M Institute on the Environment in partnership with the College of Science and Engineering and the Carlson School of Management. Through Acara’s courses, workshops and field experiences, students develop impact ventures that address societal and environmental challenges. This opportunity is open to all current degree-seeking U of M students who are up for the challenge. See competition webpage.
Consider Applying to the University Honors Program!

If you are a highly-motivated student and intend to participate in research, scholarship, or artistic activity under the guidance of a faculty mentor, you may wish to apply for the University Honors Program (UHP). Participation provides invidualized academic advising, increased access to special courses and faculty across colleges, a close-knit community of driven and accomplished students, and the opportunity to graduate with Latin Honors. Applicants must have a 3.5+ GPA and a planned graduation date of spring 2018 or later. Attend an info session to learn more!

National Corn Growers Association Academic Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship Program - $1,000
Apply by: December 11
Five $1000 scholarships are available to members and family members of the National Corn Growers Association. Students who are sophomore level or greater are eligible to apply. For more information, visit the National Corn Growers Association website.
Annie's Homegrown Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship Program - $2,500 - 10,000
Apply by: January 5
Annie's Sustainable Agriculture Scholarship Program is open to full time undergraduate and graduate students. Students must be focusing on classes in sustainable agriculture. For more information visit Annie's Homegrown website.
Intertribal Timber Council Scholarships - $1,000 - $5,000
Apply by: January 11
The Intertribal Timber Council posts various internship and scholarship opportunities for American Indian and Alaska Native students in science and natural resources disciplines. For more information visit the Intertribal Timber Council website.
Morris K. Udall Scholarships - $7,000
Apply by: January 15
The University of Minnesota will nominate up to four sophomores or juniors in any major for Udall Scholarships ($7000 for a year of undergraduate education). Udall Scholars have demonstrated leadership, public service and commitment to issues related to American Indian nations or the environment. Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
