The Outsized Role of Earth's Largest Lakes

St. Paul Student Center

Roughly two thirds of Earth's fresh water is contained in just 20 diverse lakes scattered around the planet. Their value continues to grow due to freshwater scarcity. Dr. Robert Sterner's talk explores our largest lakes from the standpoints of hydrology, biogeochemistry, biodiversity, and geopolitics. Free and open to all.

CFANS International Ag Minor: Pizza and Info Session

Eat free pizza and learn about the CFANS Minor in International Agriculture. Talk with Professor Jay Bell about ways you can add international experience into your academic plans. If interested, fill out this short questionnaire or just stop by. Sponsored by the International Agriculture student club.

Exam Jam: Prep for Finals
May 2 and May 9
Tutors and consultants are available to help you study for finals during Exam Jam. The Smart Learning Commons (multiple locations) has sample tests, extended walk-in hours, and food! Don't forget you can use the Campus Escort Service when you're studying late, or anytime.

Finals: Find Study Spaces and Distractions on the St. Paul Campus
Need a quiet place to study for finals? Or do you need a break during finals instead? St. Paul libraries offer both. Magrath Library is open until midnight May 8–15, with a special area open until 2 a.m. via your UCard. See complete schedules and fun activities for finals.

Congratulations Graduating CFANS Students!
The CFANS undergraduate commencement ceremony is May 15. Kudos to our graduating students for your hard work and accomplishments!


Scholarships with Upcoming Deadlines

Syngenta Agricultural Scholarship, $1000
apply by May 15, 2015
These Syngenta scholarships are for students majoring in an agriculture-related field.

Izaak Walton League of America Scholarship (MN Division), $1000
apply by May 15, 2015
Multiple scholarships are available to students studying the environment, wildlife, or conservation. See application info (PDF). Applicants must be Minnesota residents.

Minnesota Pork Board Scholarship, $1000
apply by May 15, 2015
If your CFANS major has a focus on swine or the pork industry, this scholarship is aimed at you. Applicants must be Minnesota residents.

National Poultry & Food Distributors Scholarship, $2000
apply by May 31, 2015
The NPFDA scholarships are for upcoming juniors and seniors studying poultry science, food science, nutrition, agricultural economics/marketing, or other fields with a connection to the poultry industry.
