CFANS Homecoming Events

St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses

The annual Homecoming football game is Saturday. CFANS is hosting multiple unique events, including festivities before and during the Homecoming parade (Oct 17), where you can also walk with the CFANS parade float. Sunday is a 5K Run/Walk through the St. Paul campus. Game day includes a CFANS Tailgate and seating block. Fun stuff! See the full list of CFANS Homecoming activities.

Borlaug 5K Run/Walk for Hunger Relief

St. Paul campus (start line: Carter and Eckles Aves)

This fun run/walk is sponsored by CFANS and open to everyone. Registration $25-30. All proceeds benefit Second Harvest Heartland and hunger relief in Minnesota. Learn more.

Clean Energy and Jobs Kick-Off

7 to 8:15 p.m.
117 STSS Building (map), Minneapolis campus
The Minnesota Clean Energy & Jobs project brings together 60 Minnesota groups advocating for legislation that will create jobs and generate local, renewable energy. This kick-off event tells you how to get involved and ways to support a sustainable energy future. Includes food and a Sierra Club presentation. Free and open to all. RSVP or learn more.

U of M Food Day 2014

This big free event features food booths (with healthy, sustainable foods), rock climbing, a foodie photo competition, demos, fresh juice samples, a big apple crunch, and much more. Stop by anytime. Sponsored by CFANS Healthy Foods, Healthy Lives Institute.

Film: "Growing Cities" (Urban Farming in America)

Bell Museum, Minneapolis campus

See this special screening of "Growing Cities", a film about urban farming in America. A brief pre-film discussion features local organizations that work on urban poverty and community gardens. Free and open to all. Gourmet popcorn while supplies last! Sponsored by multiple CFANS student groups.

Government and Nonprofit Career Fair

Coffman Union (map), Great Hall

Great positions are available in government agencies and nonprofits, locally and nationally. Stop by this Fair to learn what's out there. Free and open to all U of M students. You don't need to register in advance.

It's Not Too Late to Study Abroad This Winter!

There's still room in CFANS international programs that take place over winter break. See the full list of options through the CFANS Office of International Programs. This winter term you can go to Thailand, Ecuador, Costa Rica, or South Africa. Applications accepted until the programs fill. Apply soon!

Upcoming Scholarship Deadlines

$750 Scholarships for CFANS Study Abroad This Winter
Deadline: October 31 (extended from Oct 15)
CFANS is offering multiple $750 Go Global Scholarships for CFANS students who study abroad this winter. These are for programs coordinated by the CFANS Office of International Programs. Slots are still available in multiple winter programs, and the application deadline has been extended.

Key Academic Calendar Dates

–Nov 8: third and final fall payment due
–Nov 10: last day to cancel fall classes without college scholastic committee approval
–Nov 11: class registration begins for spring 2015 classes
