Come celebrate this year's recipient of the E.C. Stakman Award for outstanding achievements in the field of plant pathology. Jeff Ellis, Program Leader for CSIRO Plant Industry will be presented this year's award and will deliver a research seminar titled "Molecular genetics of rust disease - from fundamental understanding to application."

The award ceremony and presentation will take place on October 22nd from 10:30 am - noon in the Cargill Building, room 105.

About this year's recipient

Dr. Jeff Ellis is a worldwide leader in the field of plant-microbe interactions. His career has focused on dissecting the mechanisms that dictate the recognition of pathogens in plants, how plants respond to pathogens and how pathogens shape these interactions. The plant science field has benefited greatly from Ellis' work. Ellis has been a pioneer in plant pathology as he conducted some of the earliest investigations to identify components of the plant immune recognition system. His career has been extremely productive, with more than a 100 publications that demonstrate the scientific impact of his work. In addition, he has served as mentor for many scientists, some of which have become prominent leaders in the field.
