About me

Hello Students!

I have worked in higher education for over sixteen years; 12 of which are in advising.   I came into advising due to my own need for advising services in my undergraduate career at Purdue University.   As such, advising is a passion and calling for me; I try to put myself in the shoes of my students --to give the best assistance possible --my goals are yours. :-)

in working with my students, I always keep in mind the questions I had as an undergraduate --this perspective helps inform the discussions that we have.  My goal is to assist you on your academic, professional and self-actualization goals.

Favorite quote: “there is no such thing, really, as competition, per se, as there is only ONE YOU –you bring to the world your own unique skills, talents, history, vision and lens to whatever it is that is your calling.  This is no different than possessing your own unique fingerprint.”

When I’m not in the office, I enjoy being active outside walking exploring gardens and parks, spending time with friends, going to festivals and events, and exploring Twin Cities’ restaurants. I also enjoy music, traveling, reading, and being at home in my newly purchased house in St. Paul.

We are committed to providing a comfortable, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members of our communities. If there is information you feel would be helpful for us to know, including disability or other accommodation needs, I invite you to share it with me directly or let the front desk know when you schedule an appointment.

Advising Philosophy

To provide each student the tools to navigate their academic career and environment such that they develop their own self agency, which is then built upon for use in their personal and professional lives.

To serve in a collaborative relationship with the student on a common, shared goal, which is to graduate in a timely manner, in a program that is resonant with their personal aspirations, professionally and personally.

To provide each student with the space to develop their own unique academic skills and knowledge, and to serve as an assist in their self-actualization.
