Veronica_VallejoVeronica Vallejo is a Senior Principal Scientist of Agro Discovery and Crop Improvement at PepsioCo R&D. She primarily works with leadership of trait discovery and data sciences capabilities for raw material innovation, as well as the development of Stevia agro strategy. In addition to her work at PepsiCo, Verionica teaches as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte.

Prior to joining PepsiCo, Veronica co-directed the Stevia Breeding program at MSU and molecular biology lab for three years. She conducted independent research in both stevia and petunia and became a leading expert on stevia breeding and genetics. During her tenure she patented three stevia varieties with unique glycoside profiles. Additionally, Veronica has worked extensively with abiotic stress tolerance pathways in rice. During her career, she has focused primarily on the development and utilization of genomic tools to elucidate plant pathways.

Veronica dedicates much of her spare time to mentoring young professionals. She believes passionately about giving back to the community that supported her in her professional journey.

Participants in the mentoring circles receive priority registration for the Artemisia Professional Development Workshops.
