CFANS College to Career Seminar for High School Students

You are invited for a day of discovery with the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences!  High school students of all ages will have the chance to explore careers related to food, veterinary science, and business. Students will also learn how they can pursue these careers with a college degree from the University of Minnesota.

An admissions counselor will talk about the benefits of the U of M, and explain the application process in general. Industry professionals and current college students will be present to network with high school students, discuss their experiences in veterinary medicine, agricultural business, food systems, and more, and share information about college activities and industry opportunities.

Lastly, the students will hear from Allison Van Eenennaam, an Animal Genomics and Biotechnology Cooperative Extension Specialist at the University of California, Davis. She will be facilitating a discussion around Genetically Modified Organisms and the science behind this hot button issue. Not only will she lead a fascinating seminar, but students will also have the chance to converse with industry professionals regarding how they view GMOs.

The seminar will take place at the Leman Swine Conference, an annual educational event for the global swine industry which brings hundreds of participants from over 20 countries to St. Paul to learn about science-driven solutions and hear from major players in swine production, animal health, and marketing.
