Professional Cat Herding: Building Public-Private Partnerships in Agriculture and Food
Mr. Zorrilla will be giving an overview and vision of Oat Global, an Industry/ University consortium based out of UMN’s Stakman-Borlaug Center for Sustainable Plant Health. The Oat Global consortium includes PepsiCo, General Mills, Grain Millers, Inc, Lacrosse Milling, Richardson Milling, North American Miller’s Association, and various international and University partners. Will’s talk will describe novel streams of research funding via industry collaborations and mechanisms of corporate, State and Federal engagement. He will also provide examples of successes in leveraging industry relationships to attain traditional research funding sources such as USDA NIFA and NSF. Throughout the talk he will provide insight into aligning research priorities with stakeholder needs as well as review pressures facing the agriculture and food industry.
