Dean's Dialogue: Microaggressions
CFANS Deans and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion invite you to the Dean's Dialogue.
The Dean's Dialogues are an open exchange of ideas, and an effort to understand each other’s ideas about diversity. The goal of this dialogue is not to necessarily make a decision or reach consensus, but to start a college-level conversation.
This dialogue will discuss microaggressions, which are "brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral, or environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative racial slights and insults toward people of color." Microaggressions are not always meant to be harmful, but can significantly impact a person's feeling of acceptance and safety.
