The college embraces diversity and excellence. The Office for Diversity and Inclusion meets that mission by providing diversity and social justice programming that seek to educate our campus community about equity and pluralism as it relates to the experiences of marginalized populations. These workshops aim to highlight differences that matter in the context of gaining access to historically exclusive spaces. The goal is to create a baseline of expectations that allow for members of our community to show up and feel valued, respected, able to flourish, and are unobstructed in their pursuit of excellence. For more information about the college's mission and vision around diversity, inclusion, and equity, read the college's statement on diversity.
In collaboration with the Gender and Sexuality Center for Queer and Trans Life and the CFANS Office for Diversity, the LGBT Advisory Board partners to host programs/events, advocates, and provides visibility for the needs and experiences of LGBTQIA individuals on campus. The goal is to build a community of support for queer and trans students, faculty, and staff in various academic colleges, while addressing the need for greater inclusion in St. Paul. This committee generally hosts events/dialogues, open hours, and collaborates with Pride @ Work for happy hour events.
The Office for Diversity and Inclusion believes that diversity is everyone's everyday work, and that effort should be recognized throughout the college. With that goal in mind, our office aims to provide awareness to the great diversity work happening within the various departments in CFANS and across the University.
