The Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management (ESPM) Student Association (ESA) is unveiling its first annual Eco-U. Eco-U presents a dynamic experience that explores the future of energy with a particular emphasis placed on energy in Minnesota. The event will include a keynote speaker, panelists, and 'world cafe' reception.
The keynote speaker is Nate Hagens, currently a UMN adjunct professor teaching a course on energy and environmental issues. He serves on the Board of Directors of Post Carbon Institute, the Institute for Integrated Economic Research, the Bottleneck Foundation, and the Institute for the Study of Energy and Our Future.
- Lester Shen '86, the Director of Innovative Technologies for the Center for Energy and Environment,
- Barbara Freese '82, former Minnesota Assistant Attorney General and author of Coal: A Human History;
- Diana McKeown '96, the Metro Clean Energy Resource Team (CERT) Director at the Great Plains Institute.
The ESPM Student Association strives to create an atmosphere of discovery and exploration around energy in Minnesota by engaging audience members throughout Eco-U. Discussion will be encouraged throughout the evening to foster the development of ideas.
