CFANS tells its story at the Minnesota State Fair

With a refreshing new look and even more opportunities to engage, the CFANS wing of the Agricultural/Horticulture Building at this year’s Minnesota State Fair will be sure to impress.

In addition to numerous information kiosks, the exhibit will offer a wall-sized spin on connect-the-dots, a Post-It® note board for sharing CFANS stories, and an engagement table where visitors can dive deep into conversation with experts about our path-leading programs and developments, from sustainable turf management to soil erosion mitigation. You’ll have the chance to learn from Master Gardeners, chat with current students, and hear about incredible experiences at the new Bell Museum + Planetarium, opening in 2018 on the St. Paul campus.

Come early, because the first 50 people in the CFANS wing each morning will have a chance to get Gopher Ears, a fun accessory to showcase your college pride for the rest of the day.

Plus: Visit CFANS at the DNR Stage on Sunday, August 27. Researchers and educators from CFANS will facilitate family-friendly interactive presentations:

  • 11am: Good bacteria to keep Minnesota Water clean - Satoshi Isshi, Department of Soil, Water and Climate
  • 1pm: Aquatic Insects: The good, the bad, and the fascinating - Jeff Hahn, Department of Entomology
  • 3pm: Aquatic Creatures - Jennifer Menken, Bell Museum + Planetarium

Want to help tell the CFANS story? Volunteer at the fair! We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to engage with the public and help people get to know CFANS. You will receive a ticket to access the fair as well as a CFANS Minnesota State Fair tee-shirt. Please register by August 11.
