Lei Wang '16 named finalist in ASN Emerging Leader Competition

Post-doctoral associate Lei Wang '16 (Ph.D. Nutrition) was named a finalist in the American Society for Nutrition (ASN) Emerging Leader Competition, and will present his research at Experimental Biology 2017.

Wang, who received his Ph.D. in 2016 under the tutelage of Dr. Chi Chen, was selected from hundreds of applicants to present his research as part of ASN's Scientific Sessions at Experimental Biology April 22-26 in Chicago. The Emerging Leader Competition was created to highlight the very best research submitted by students and young investigators in the field.

Wang's research at the U focuses on applying LC-MS based chemometrics and metabolomics in comprehensively characterizing the chemical profiles of thermally-oxidized oil and biological samples from thermally-oxidized oil treatment. By evaluating all the information together, the biological effects of thermally oxidized oil to animals were able to be characterized.
