Dr. Elwood Caldwell faced the daunting job of leading a newly formed Food Science and Nutrition (FSCN) department in 1972 that merged three different departments into one. During that time, he also created the first FSCN Advisory Council, bringing in over 60 members. Fourteen years later, the department had achieved the status of one of the best in the country in its field.
After retiring, Dr. Caldwell established a bequest to ensure that the department would continue to attract top graduate students. After his wife's passing in January of this year, he made a generous gift to create the Elwood F. and Florence A. Caldwell Fellowship, that when combined with his bequest will fully fund a graduate student in the area of Food Science and Nutrition.
Thank you, Dr. Caldwell for your many years of dedication and generous support of the Food Science and Nutrition department!
