P. Michael Davidson ('77, M.S. Food Science) is the inaugural recipient of the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture (UTIA)'s title Institute Professor. Davidson is a professor and former head of the Department of Food Science and Technology at UTIA. Davidson has served as a professor with distinction in a number of leadership roles across the Institute since 1979; he conducts research and teaches about microbiological food safety and food antimicrobials. - Dick Joerger ('92, Ph.D Vocational and Agricultural Education) started his role as an Associate Professor of Agriculture in the Agriculture Department of Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa on October 1. In addition to teaching courses in farm business management, Joerger will provide leadership for planning an agricultural stewardship center and a 2016 global conference focusing on the issues and opportunities for feeding 9 billion people in 2050. 

Amy Morey ('10, M.S. Entomology) received the 2014 Monsanto Research Grant Award; the grant provides funds to outstanding Entomological Society of America student members who are undertaking research projects. Morey is currently a Ph.D. candidate in entomology at CFANS studying the affect of cold temperatures on invasive species. 

- Kevin Ratka ('97, B.S. Veterinary Medicine; '99, D.VM) recently joined Vita Plus as a dairy technical sales specialist. Ratka will provide technical leadership to the dairy sales team, use his expertise to help producers be more profitable, and assist in the education, training and development of dairy consultants in central MN.
