1970s Forestry Reunion

Join your fellow forestry graduates of the 1970s, along with family and friends, for a reunion on October 14-16, 2016. The event will start on the St. Paul campus and move to the Cloquet Forestry Center (CFC). Attend some or all of the weekend activities as you renew your U of M and Cloquet connection. The event is open to all alumni who are interested in attending, but space is limited. The weekend will begin with alumni gathering on the St. Paul campus on Friday for a tour, a lecture mini-series from current faculty, and a chance to meet current students. Saturday's events will take place at the CFC, where lodging and most meals will be provided. You will get the opportunity to tour the research sites at the forest, try your hand at timbersports events, compete in a dendrology bowl, and dance at a Stump Jumpers Ball. Learn more.

Big expansion for CFANS alumni-owned Mighty Axe Hops

Eric Sannerud '13 (B.S. Inter-College Program :Sustainability Studies, Applied Business) and Ben Boo '14  (B.S. Horticulture), co-founders of Mighty Axe Hops, have announced that they’ll be expanding to a new 80-acre facility about 20 minutes north of St. Cloud, Minnesota, in Gilmanton Township. That acreage will make Mighty Axe bigger than all the hopyards in Minnesota combined, and more than 20 times larger than Mighty Axe’s current 3.5-acre operation in Ham Lake. Sannerud and Boo intend to break ground on 40 acres of the property this year and the remaining 40 acres in 2017 with the first production season coming in 2017 as well. This expansion is huge for local craft brew industries! For more information, check out this article.
