CFANS Alumni & Friends eNews - July 2016

For many, and particularly for many Minnesotans, summer is a popular time of year for fishing on the lake. Jessie Koehle '06 (M.S. Conservation Biology, Fisheries & Aquatic Science), works to make sure that those fish populations are maintained throughout the year. Her current role in Eagan's Neighborhood Fishing Program allows her to do many hands-on tasks with the fish that include "running our own fish population surveys, winter aeration for fish survival, youth and family fishing events, [and] fish stocking."  Learn more about her work and her experiences at the U of M! More...

Anita Hall Frost graduated in 1978 with her Bachelors in Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering during a time when female students were often not encouraged to enter engineering or accepted in the profession. She was one of only a few female engineering students at the entire university. Fortunately, Anita had the support of Dr. David R. Thompson, a faculty member in BBE from 1970 to 1985. Dr. Thompson had an unwavering support for individuals in pursuit of making the world a better place. He made Anita feel like she belonged and could succeed as an engineering student and professional.
