12th annual Alumni Society Golf Scramble for Scholarships
Friday, July 10, 8 a.m., University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course

The CFANS Alumni Society will be hosting its 12th annual Golf Scramble fundraiser on Friday, July 10 at the University of Minnesota Les Bolstad Golf Course. Over the past 11 years, this event has contributed to raising over $200,000 for scholarships for CFANS students! The tournament is already sold-out, but those interested in golfing can sign up for the waiting list in the event a team spot opens up. You can also contribute to the success of the event by volunteering, contributing an item to the silent auction, and/ or making a contribution directly to the scholarship fund. Learn more.

CFANS Summer Sneak Preview for high school students and families

During this special event, high school students and their families can discover all that CFANS has to offer by participating in specialized information sessions; meeting our friendly students, faculty, and staff; seeing our state-of-the-art facilities while touring our beautiful campus, and much more. See details.

- IDEAg Minnesota Farmfest

IDEAg Minnesota Farmfest continues to be the essential farm show in the heart of the best agricultural land in America. Farmfest connects 35,000+ attendees with close to 600 local and leading companies for three days of education and political forums, field demonstrations featuring the latest technological advances in the farming industry, and networking.

We are seeking CFANS alumni to volunteer in the University of Minnesota tent at Farmfest 2015 to help visitors learn more about the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences, and reconnect with fellow university alumni.

- CFANS at the Minnesota State Fair
August 27 - September 7, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., Minnesota State Fairgrounds - Ag/Hort Building

CFANS is tackling both local and global challenges -- everything from food security to pest management to plant health including best practices for your own backyard. Through interactive displays, hands-on activities, a walking tour and advice from master gardeners, explore how these issues affect each of us.  Get ready, get set, and join us for our new activity this year – veggie races!

On Friday and Saturday, August 31st and September 1st, CFANS will showcase its undergraduate education programs at the U of M building. Along with learning more about the college, visitors can don a pair of Goldy Ears or test their knowledge with CFANS trivia. There will also be an interactive showcase at CFANS day on the DNR Stage on September 2nd as well!

2015 Horticulture Day at the North Central Research and Outreach Center

Learn more about the latest horticulture, entomology and wild rice research from University of Minnesota faculty and staff, and presenters at the North Central Research and Outreach Center’s Horticulture Day, Friday, August 28 from 2-7 p.m.; located at 1861 E US Highway 169 in Grand Rapids, MN.

Volunteer! Volunteers will help the event run smoothly by assisting with set-up, parking, registration, and teardown.

- CFANS Mentor Happy Hour
September 10, 5:30-7:30pm, Campus Club, Coffman Union, Minneapolis, MN

Join us for an opportunity to network with fellow alumni, mentors, and professionals, learn about the CFANS Mentor Program, and hear from speaker Trent Tucker '06 about the impact of mentoring on youth and college students. This event is open to both current mentors and to those who are interested in learning about what it means to become a CFANS mentor. Be sure to RSVP and bring a colleague or friend! For every prospective mentor you bring, your name will be included in a drawing to win tickets to the Ag and Food Day Gopher Football game on September 19.

- Minnesota Football faces Colorado State

Gopher Football fans who are looking to hit the road this season can set their sights on the Colorado Rockies! Coach Kill and the Golden Gophers will hit the blue skies this season for a road game in Fort Collins taking on the Colorado State University Rams at 2:30 pm (CT) on September 12. Picture this: A fall afternoon football game in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains with the stands full of Gopher Fans. That’s a beautiful sight!

Gopher Athletics and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association are hosting a “Brick by Brick: CSU Road Trip” pre-game tailgate Saturday, September 12 at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium.

Third Annual Celebrate Ag & Food Day
September 19, TCF Bank Stadium

Save the date! This event is to bring more visibility and education to the fans across the state about the importance of agriculture and food production that comes from our great state! The Gopher Football game vs. Kent State on Sept. 19, 2015 provides a high profile stage, not only with the fans that day, but a statewide listening audience season long, to speak to on the importance of agriculture on our state's economy.
