Eric Sannerud named a 40 Under 40 winner in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal
Eric Sannerud (B.S. Sustainable Agriculture/Local Foods '13), CEO of Mighty Axe Hops, has been named a 40 Under 40 winner. Sannerud has been intertwining farming and entrepreneurship in different projects such as the Sandbox Center for Regenerative Entrepreneurship, Mighty Axe Hops, helped fund Urban Oasis in St. Paul, leader in Minnesota Young Food Professionals group, and is a mentor here at the university. The 40 Under 40 awards are inteneded to showcase twin cities top young business talent that have done great things in both their businesses and community. Justin Stanton completed a 10 week study in Uruguay
Justin Stanton (B.S. Applied Plant Sciences '13) has returned from an agricultural internship in Uraguay. Stanton was studying Fusaium species, specifically F. graminearum, which is the primary cause of Fusariums head blight on small grains. Stanton is completing his Master's degree at CFANS and the trip fit right into his thesis research. To learn more about what Stanton had to say about his trip, check out this article.
Jonathan Slaght featured in The Guardian for his conservation efforts of Blakiston's fish owl
Jonathan Slaght (M.S. Conservation Biology '05, Ph. D. Wildlife Conservation '11) has dedicated his professional life to helping the rare Blakiston's fish owl. Slaght is one of the world's only experts on this particular species of owls, and spends a majority of his time in Russia with the birds. His first encounter with a Blakiston's came in 2001 when he was a volunteer with the Peace Corps in Russia. Since that sighting, he has had some major ups and downs but has become an expert in the process. Read more about his story here.
