In Your Major

Some CFANS majors accept study abroad courses to fulfill major requirements, check the list below:

Agricultural Education
CFANS 3513 - The Natural History of Norway will meet a "natural resources" category requirement. All other courses will be accepted as elective credit only.

Agricultural and Food Business Management
Study abroad programs will count for elective credit.

Agricultural Communications and Marketing
Any CFANS study abroad course will meet the field experience requirement.

Animal Science
All Animal Science tracks will accept CFANS study abroad courses as directed electives (12–22 cr) as part of the degree requirement.

Applied Economics
Study abroad programs will count for elective credit.

Applied Plant Science (no longer open to incoming students)
Agro 4096: Professional Experience Internship (1-3 cr, F/S)
Or select from one of the following:

  • Agro 4097: Undergraduate Research Thesis (1-4 cr, F/S)
  • CFANS International Field Seminar or other approved study abroad course (2-3cr)

Sustainable Systems Management
All CFANS study abroad courses will be accepted as elective credit.

Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management
All ESPM tracks (except for one track/one course) will accept all of CFANS study abroad courses to fulfill contract requirements, field experience, ESPM 3251 or other requirements within the major.

Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology
The following courses fulfill the second field experience requirement under the core requirements "Part D-Internship (ESPM 4096), independent study (FW 4291, FW 4391, or 2nd field course (1-3cr)":

  • CFAN 3500 Machu Picchu: Biodiversity and Climate Change in Peru
  • CFAN 3502 Tropical Marine Biology and Shark Ecology
  • CFAN 3504 Tiger Conservation and Vertebrate Field Methods

All other CFANS study abroad courses may be applied to fulfill free electives.

Food Science
All CFANS study abroad courses will be accepted as elective credit.

Food Systems
All CFANS study abroad courses will be accepted as elective credit. Some may be petitioned for track electives. 

Forest and Natural Resource Management
All CFANS study abroad courses will be accepted as elective credit.

Horticulture (no longer open to incoming students)
All CFANS study abroad courses will be accepted as part of a student's program of study. These courses may be applied to the directed electives/"programs of study" area.

Nutrition
CFAN 3516 - Sustainable Food Systems of Italy may be used as one nutrition core course. The remaining CFANS study abroad courses may be used as free electives.

Plant Science
All CFANS study abroad courses will be accepted as elective credit. Some may be used for Program of Study courses.

Recreation Resource Management (no longer open to incoming students)
All CFANS study abroad courses will be accepted as elective credit.
