Application Information and Deadlines

Apply to CFANS through the U of M's Office of Admissions. You can also contact the CFANS freshman admissions counselor for help.

Majors and Minors

CFANS offers more than a dozen majors, also pre-professional programs and minors. Browse the list. If you're not sure which major is for you, browse by topic on our Areas of Study page.

Visit CFANS

We encourage all prospective students to visit us on campus! Visits are scheduled on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays. Tour campus, gather information, and meet with a professor or adviser.

Orientation

All incoming CFANS freshmen attend a two-day orientation session in June or July. You'll learn more about the college and U of M services, register for classes, and meet other students.

Placement Testing

All students admitted to CFANS take chemistry and math placement tests online. Take them at least two weeks before your summer orientation session.

International Undergraduate Students

The University of Minnesota is a magnet for students from all over the world. The College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences is located on a small, beautiful campus within a sophisticated urban area that is considered one of the best places to live in the United States.
