Bell, Bee Lab projects progress

Two new buildings on the St. Paul campus are working their way through the design and construction process.

Ground will be broken this summer for the new 10,000-square-foot Bee and Pollinator Lab at a site along Gortner Avenue on the north side of campus. The new lab is expected to open in 2016.

Preliminary designs for the new Bell Museum of Natural History building, to be located at the corner of Larpenteur and Cleveland avenues, are in the works and likely to be approved this fall. The new museum building is expected to open in 2018.

Most of the funding for both projects was approved in 2014 by the state legislature as part of the U's capital improvement request.
