Diversity Events and Workshops
Experiences of diverse graduate students
The CFANS Office for Diversity and Inclusion has partnered with International Student and Scholar Services and the Office for Diversity in Graduate Education to create a workshop which focuses on bridging cultural differences between faculty members and graduate students of diverse and international backgrounds and creating an inclusive educational environment. The workshop uses clips from the video "Breaking Boundaries: Graduate Student Perspectives on Cultural and Ethnic Identity in the Academy," created by the Office for Equity and Diversity, and includes interactive activities and discussion. Departments and units interested in this workshop should contact Emily at firstname.lastname@example.org or 624-7953.
Diversity in the curriculum workshops
The University's Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) and the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), in collaboration with the CFANS Office for Diversity and Inclusion, invite faculty members to engage in a hands-on workshop where they can revise syllabi or specific segments of their courses to include more consideration of diversity and make them more attractive to diverse students. These workshops are offered on an ongoing basis. Faculty members will be notified when sessions are offered.
The University's Office for Equity and Diversity (OED) offers educational opportunities for individuals, departments, colleges and units. Workshops focus on a wide range of equity and diversity issues in higher education. OED also will customize training for individual unit needs and concerns. For more information or to request a disability-related accommodation for any OED certificate workshop, contact Ralph Blanco at email@example.com or 612-625-8680. Please allow two weeks advance notice.
