CFANS Student Organizations
Over 600 clubs and organizations from across the University welcome your participation. Below is a list of 21 Clubs and Organizations run by students in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences.

Agricultural Education Club
The Agricultural Education Club is open to anyone and everyone interested in Agricultural Education and FFA; you don't have to be an Agricultural Education major! We work with the Minnesota FFA Association and host a Fall and Winter Invitational, as well as assist with State Convention in the spring. The club networks with other colleges across the state and maintains relationships with agricultural companies. Fantastic opportunities await you in the Ag. Ed. Club! Members have traveled to Chicago and Costa Rica for educational study tours. Members may also have the opportunity to attend the National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY. Alpha Zeta
Alpha Zeta is an honorary and professional fraternity of men and women whose educational objectives and/or careers fall within the broadly defined field of agriculture. Founded at The Ohio State University on November 4, 1897, it is the oldest fraternal organization in agriculture. The LaGrange Chapter at the University of Minnesota participates in community service, professional development, and social activities. Applied Environmental Solutions
Applied Environmental Solutions (AES) is a group involved in reducing CO2 emission through researching and applying modern environmental techniques. Students from a variety of disciplines are encourage to join, especially fun students that are enthused to be involved and have any interest in marketing, communication, finance, business, management, environmental law, or engineering! Block and Bridle
The Block and Bridle Club is a social/professional club that allows students interested in Animal Science an opportunity to meet with other students, plan activities, and interact with faculty. Block and Bridle is a national organization which holds a national convention once a year. The clubs emphasis is in beef cattle, sheep, swine, and horses. Programs include speakers, social events, and fund-raisers. Block and Bridle is an excellent opportunity for networking on campus and for future job opportunities. Planned annual activities for the club include the state FFA invitational judging contest, the State Hereford Sale, Minnesota Royal, annual Steer and Heifer Show, and a barbecue. The only requirement for membership is an interest in Animal Science.  Currently the club meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month at 7:00 in 365 Haecker Hall. Students can join anytime. CFANS Student Board
The CFANS Student Board is comprised of elected executive student delegates and standing student group representatives that work directly with faculty and staff of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Natural Resource Sciences to create open communication across all levels of the college. The full board of representatives meets five times a semester to plan upcoming college events such as the Fall Semester CFANS Barbeque, CFANS Week, Senior Salute and Commencement with additional executive meetings scheduled as necessary. Collegiate Agri-Women
Collegiate Agri-Women is an organization based on professional development and agricultural literacy.  Although most students are from the College of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, everyone is welcome.  Activities that they participate in include educational school visits, retreats, and Harvest Farmer's Share Breakfast.  They try to find activities that will give them a chance to share their knowledge of agriculture by educating others.  They are also non-voting members of the Minnesota Agri-Women.  This allows them to work towards their goal of professional development with opportunities such as attending conferences and networking and learning from the women of agriculture across the state. Environmental Studies Club
The Environmental Studies Club provides students with the opportunity to become acquainted with and discuss environmental issues, promote and participate in environmentally-related service projects, and share mutual concerns with students and faculty.  The Club organizes several field trips to natural areas and weekend camping trips to State Parks or other areas each semester. Equestrian Team/Club
The Equestrian Team at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities is a club sport which operates under the Animal Science Department as a Campus Life Group. The club was founded in the fall of 2004 with the mission to compete in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association shows, volunteer in the community, and make an impact in the lives of horse people and other university students. Members are not required to own their own horse to participate. Meetings are generally held monthly. Contact Ashley Gonwa at gonwa002@umn.edu with questions.

Fisheries and Wildlife Club/Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society
The Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Club promotes fellowship among students and faculty in the Department of Fisheries, Wildlife and Conservation Biology and sponsors social, vocational, and educational events. Food Science and Nutrition Club
The Food Science and Nutrition Club fosters a close relationship among the Food Science and Nutrition students and faculty and promotes interest in the profession. The club encourages programs that stimulate the knowledge, thought and vision of its membership. Programs include speakers, demonstrations, field trips, and opportunities for association with leaders in the profession. Planned annual activities for the club include a tour of Pillsbury, a tour of Davisco, a departmental holiday party, a club picnic, a new product development team, and a number of speakers. Forestry Club
This club focuses on social and educational opportunities related to the fields of forestry and natural resource professions. Forestry Club traditions include the Midwestern Foresters Conclave (lumberjack games), highway cleanup, tree cutting and subsequent tree sales at the Forestry Club Christmas tree lot, and an annual Forester's Day featuring a pancake breakfast, field events, and a banquet. Gopher Crops and Soils Club
Gopher Crops and Soils is a social/professional club that encourages student interaction with faculty and with each other. The club fund-raiser finances trips, food at meetings, and social events throughout the year. No dues are collected and members may eventually earn a club jacket by participating in club events. Planned annual activities for the club include a hot dog feed, trips to the American Society of Agronomy (ASA) National Meetings, trips to ASA Regional Meetings, a steak fry and awards night. In order to become a member you must have an interest in agronomy and participate in a number of club activities. The club also is associated with the undergraduate lounge in 101 Hayes Hall. Currently the club meets every other Wednesday, beginning with the second week of the semester, in 306 Borloug Hall. Students can join anytime. Gopher Dairy Club
The Gopher Dairy Club, the largest club on the University of Minnesota Campus is known nationwide for the outstanding contributions that it gives to help positively promote the Dairy Industry to college students, faculty, and the general public. Throughout the year, members of the club are able to gain both scholastic and hands-on learning experiences about the Dairy Industry through various activities, events, and tours. The club enjoys actively participating in Minnesota Royal, Regional and National Dairy Science Association Conventions, assisting with the Minnesota State FFA Convention, and managing the Gopher Dairy Bar at the Minnesota State Fair. Each year, the members receive their own personal yearbook, attend the Gopher Dairy Club Annual Formal Banquet, and are eligible to receive one of several scholarships. Gopher Dairy Club seniors are given the special privilege of attending a week-long senior trip, if they have met specific requirements. All of the Gopher Dairy Club members welcome anyone who is interested in the Dairy Industry to come and experience the many educational, fun, and exciting opportunities that their club has to offer, anytime during the school year! Gopher Poultry Science Club
The Gopher Poultry Science Club is an undergraduate and graduate club at the University of Minnesota. Any student, faculty or staff with an interest in Poultry Science may join.  The purpose of the club is: to provide students interested in poultry science with a broader understanding of the poultry industry and to bring them in closer touch with its leaders; to provide a forum for speakers to make presentations of timely interest to members on contemporary aspects of poultry science; to provide a support group for students with an interest in poultry science, including offering tutoring; to schedule visits and field trips to companies in the poultry industry; and to provide social activities and events for the members.

The Horticulture Club
The Horticulture Club promotes professionalism in all phases of horticulture, provides a voice for horticulture students, and provides information relative to the field of horticulture to club members through tours, speakers, movies, projects, and many other fun and interesting activities. Members of the club gain practical experience in plant culture in the greenhouse. The members enjoy propagating and growing plants together at various campus plant sales to generate the club's funds. They also enjoy making and selling corsages, holiday wreaths and centerpieces, and many other floral arrangements. Please contact hortclub@umn.edu with questions.

MANRRS
Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences is a St. Paul based non-profit organization with the purpose to provide students of different backgrounds with the opportunities to grow professionally within their field of interest, socialize with other students of the same or different background, and make a difference in the community. MANRRS is also a nationally recognized organization with yearly conferences.  All are welcome! We meet every two weeks on Thursday in Coffey Hall. National Agri-Marketing Association
The student chapter of the National Agri-Marketing Association prepares students for careers in agricultural marketing, sales, communications and public relations. NAMA helps develop career skills and gain professional contacts that assist students in pursuit of an ag business career. Planned annual activities for the club include a trip to the national NAMA convention to present a marketing proposal in competition with other chapters. The only requirement for the club is an interest in an agri-marketing career or an interest in career contacts and networking. Pre-PAM (Pre Production Animal Medicine)
The Pre-PAM Club (Pre-Production Animal Medicine) is designed to fit the interests of any person wanting to know more about large food animal medicine. It is the newest club formed for animal science students; however membership is available to any person, regardless of their major. The mission of the club is to explore career and networking opportunities, gain hands-on experience with large animals understand the importance of food animals, as well as assist members in understanding ways of being more marketable to vet schools. Pre-Vet Club
The Pre-Vet Club is an undergraduate organization with the purpose of instilling the utmost knowledge in future veterinarians through the aid of guest speakers, group discussions, hands-on experiences, study groups, and social events.  Annual events include tubing at Green Acres, the Trail of Terror, the Wildlife Science Center campout with the wolves, the American Pre-Veterinary Medical Association National Symposium, the University of Minnesota Vet School Open House, the Dog Wash Fundraiser, and the MN Horse Expo.  Please contact pvc@umn.edu with questions.

Recreation Resource Management Club
The Recreation Resource Management Club provides a forum for students, faculty and staff, and alumni of the University of Minnesota to convene on themes relating to recreation, sustainable tourism, natural resources, and the environment.  The club facilitates and promotes opportunities to participate in recreational activities, social and professional networking, travel, natural resource management, environmental education, and campus and community involvement.  The RRM club welcomes anyone and everyone for membership, encouraging positive settings and situations to appreciate and enjoy one another and our natural environment. St. Paul Ambassadors
The St. Paul Ambassadors are a voluntary, honorary organization consisting of undergraduate students from the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences at the University of Minnesota.  They assist in promoting the College to prospective students and their parents, alumni, potential donors, and friends of the College and University of Minnesota.  Members participate in several events for prospective students throughout the year, give tours to prospective students, attend meetings and participate in college events. Students who join this organization are usually outgoing, helpful and love the “U”. Students meet twice a month. If you are interested in joining please contact Megan Reeck at reeck009@umn.edu.

Student Chapter of Forest Products Society
The Student Chapter of Forest Products Society promotes fellowship among forest products students and faculty, and between students and wood utilization industry professionals. Club member organize projects such as tours, lectures and recreational events. Contact Ben Carrier at carr0444@umn.edu with questions.

Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters
The Student Chapter of the Society of American Foresters meets with forestry professionals to discuss issues and provide employment information. Student Organization of Nutrition and Dietetics (SOND)
Since 1980, The Student Organization of Nutrition and Dietetics, SOND, has brought together nutrition and dietetics students for networking, support, fun and outreach. Visit the website at . Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI)
Student chapters of professional organizations TAPPI & PIMA. Serves mainly Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering students. Open to everyone. Please contact the Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering Department at 612-625-7733 for more information.

Urban & Community Forestry Club
The Urban & Community Forestry Club was formed in 1997 by students at the University of Minnesota interested in Urban Forestry and Arboriculture.
The organization has been officially recognized by the Minnesota Society of Arboriculture (MSA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) as a special interest group. The objective of the organization is to advance the science, technology, education, and practice of urban forestry, arboriculture, and related fields and to use the knowledge and skill of the profession to benefit the members and society. Membership is open to students and faculty.

Water Resources Students in Action
Water Resources Students in Action works to improve public awareness of the importance of maintaining clean waterways. Xi Sigma Pi
