St. Paul Campus Ally Training

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) individuals exist on every college and university campus, in every workplace setting, and in every organization. These students, coworkers, and community members have the right to study, work, and live in respectful and safe environments where they can be their whole selves. Your active support in assuring a positive work and learning environment for all members of our community is essential.

The GLBTA Programs Office in partnership with the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences Diversity Programs Office is offering St. Paul Campus students, faculty and staff the opportunity to attend Ally Training free of charge. Ally Training is a three-hour program that the GLBTA Programs Office will deliver in two, separate, hour and a half sessions. These sessions are designed to educate participants about how to be an ally to members of the GLBT community.

St. Paul Campus Faculty and Staff Development Opportunity: Learning Our Campus Cultural Communities, Series of Three Workshops

The Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE) and the St. Paul Campus will conduct a series of three workshops this academic year to discuss issues of diversity on the St. Paul Campus.   The goal of these workshops is intended to help academic advisors and other staff better understand the unique needs of the diverse students we work with and to help us build stronger professional relationships them.

The first session took place on Tuesday, September 23; and included a presentation by Dr. Rich Lee, professor of psychology. We invite you to attend the remaining sessions even if you were not able to attend the first sessions.

November (date and location TBA)
Part Two: The second session will focus on student insight and will feature a panel of students from various St. Paul campus majors. Students will share their stories about their experiences at the University and answer questions from the participants.

Spring Semester (date and location TBA)
Part Three: The third session will engage participants in a series of case studies. We will be collecting a series of real case studies from various St. Paul campus majors and work in both small and large groups to explore what issues are involved and how might we approach these issues with our students.

Please check back for further details and registration for upcoming development sessions.
