Types of Scholarships

There are many scholarship resources available to prospective and current CFANS students at the University of Minnesota:

College-Wide Scholarships

Through generous donations from alumni, friends and corporate sponsors, the College awards $900,000 annually to incoming and current students in good academic standing. Students need to submit only one application to be considered for all general CFANS scholarships.

Current students: Current U of M students should submit the online application.

New freshman students: there is no separate application; we use your admissions application.

Transfer students from outside universities and colleges: there is no separate application; we use your admissions application.

Transfer applicants from within the University of Minnesota system: students already enrolled in the Twin Cities, Crookston, Duluth, or Morris campuses) should submit the online application.

The College Scholarship Committee (comprised of faculty representatives from each academic department and Student Services staff) begins reviewing and accepting applications early spring semester.

Department Scholarships

Many of the College's departments also offer scholarships for current and incoming students. If the department offers scholarships for incoming students, there is no separate application and you will automatically be considered for those you are eligible for based on your admissions application. For current students, department scholarships often have a separate application and review process from that of the college. For more information on which departments offer scholarships, their application process, and the awards that are available, please contact the departments.
