Application Information for Transfer Students
The University of Minnesota's Office of Admissions handles all undergraduate admissions applications to CFANS. You are considered a transfer student if you have enrolled in a post-secondary institution (such as a community or technical college, college, or university) since graduating from high school.
When you apply, you will complete either the Transfer Admission Application or the Change of College form. You will complete the Transfer Admission Application if you were enrolled at a post-secondary institution other than the University of Minnesota. If you have completed less than 26 credits of college coursework, you will be considered for admission using a combination of transfer and freshman admission criteria, including high school and college transcripts and ACT or SAT test scores.
You will complete the Change of College form if you were enrolled at another University of Minnesota campus (Duluth, Morris, Crookston) or another college on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus.
Before applying, you should discuss your plans with a CFANS Admissions Counselor to obtain the materials you will need for the application process. Applications are reviewed and decisions are made based on a combination of your overall GPA, grades in science, math, and coursework relative to your proposed major, completion of needed course preparation and prerequisites (such as College Algebra), and the availability of space in your desired program.
SPECIAL NOTE: If you were a PSEO student and have not completed any college-level coursework since graduating from high school, you are still considered a new freshman; however, you will need to submit an official transcript of your college coursework.
