Admission Requirements

Admission to the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences is competitive and based on an overall assessment of the applicant's academic record and potential for success in their designated major. Primary review factors include cumulative grade point average and grades in math, sciences, and in coursework related to the major.
  • All applicants to CFANS must have completed intermediate algebra at the college level with a passing grade.
  • It is highly recommend that applicants to the majors of Applied Economics or Agricultural & Food Business Management complete college algebra with a grade of C or higher AND complete microeconomics or macroeconomics with a grade of B- or higher.
  • Most successful applicants to majors in Food Science and Nutrition have completed one semester of inorganic chemistry with lab OR one semester of general biology with lab with a grade of C- or better.
  • All applicants must demonstrate a solid foundation in math and science.
Secondary review factors include, but are not limited to, grade trends, participation in extracurricular activities related to the major, community involvement, and work experience. High school grades, class rank, and ACT or SAT scores may be factored into the admissions decision for students who have completed less than 26 transferable college credits. Transfer applications are available online.
