Adventures with food and fiber A week-long day camp that introduces kids to farm animals and fiber production and processing in a fun, safe, friendly and controlled atmosphere. Planned activities are age-dependent and include: tour of the dairy unit; visits with beef calves, lambs, pigs and chickens; hatching chicks; and other hands-on activities. The hands-on activities feature general animal health and care, processing food and fiber products, where wholesome and nutritious food comes from, and fun facts about what we eat.
Ag Awareness A three day event sponsored by Animal Science and Agronomy grad students. This program provides an interactive, hands-on learning environment for urban and/or suburban elementary students with little or no exposure to agriculture. The event is held in May each year at the Livestock Arena on the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus.
Bug Zoo Interactive display of pinned and living insects of local, regional, national, and international importance. Display present at the MN State Fair, CFANS Open House, and the University of Minnesota Homecoming.
Department of Animal Science Youth Programs Youth and enrichment programs for students specializing in poultry-related activities. Economics Challenge The Minnesota State Economics Quiz Bowl Challenge is a contest for teams of 3-5 high school students. The challenge takes place in April on the St. Paul campus. Call (612) 625-3727 or see the Minnesota Council on Economic Education for more details.

Gopher Dairy Camp Activity camp for 4-H and FFA Youth. This three day camp is from June 10-12 and is for children who have completed grades 6-11. Activites include Dairy Workshops, Dairy Showmanship, Gopher Gold Auction, and Dairy Judging.
Insect Museum Tours Come and view the 8th largest university bug collection, with more than 3,300,000 specimens, on a class tour. The museum is located on the St. Paul Campus.
Junior Master Gardener The Junior Master Gardener program's mission is "to grow good kids by igniting a for the learning, success and service through a unique gardening education." This program is an international youth gardening program of the University Cooperative Extension Network that teaches youth independent and group leaning experiences, life/skill career exploration and the fundamentals of gardening. Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom is a unique public/private partnership between the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and many supporting organizations and businesses. This school-based program helps students and educators in grades K-12 gain a broad-based agricultural knowledge. The program's "flagship" publication is the popular student Minnesota AgMag series for grades 4-6. Monarchs in the Classroom This program, started by Dr. Karen Oberhauser, is a unique learning opportunity where students can obtain a solid background for understanding behavior, ecology, and the evolution of monarch butterflies. By observing the life cycle of the monarch, students not only get to communicate interactively with scientists, but better understand the biology of the monarch. Raptor Center The Raptor Center at the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine specializes in the medical care, rehabilitation, and conservation of eagles, hawks, owls, and falcons.
