Little Red Oil Can One of the oldest and most cherished traditions on the St. Paul Campus is the awarding of the "Little Red Oil Can." It was first given to Dean E. M. Freeman in 1916. It is recorded that he often forgot that a Model T Ford consumed gasoline. At an assembly in 1916, the Sophomore Class presented a red oil can to keep filled for frequent emergencies.
