Algae project gets 150K boost Xcel Energy has given a $150,000 gift to the University of Minnesota
that builds on both organizations' commitment to renewable energy in
Minnesota. Of particular interest is a groundbreaking algae-to-biofuels
project led by CFANS scientist Roger Ruan. |  | |

than $4.5 million from the Xcel Energy Renewable Development Fund. The
CFANS projects total about $2.7 million. |
New home for Bell Museum planned for 2010 A new home for the Bell Museum of Natural History will be part of the
university's proposed bonding request to the 2008 Minnesota
Legislature. This week, the university’s Board of Regents reviewed and
approved schematic designs for a new $36 million public facility on the
St. Paul campus.
Construction of the museum will begin in 2008, with a projected completion date of 2010. |  | |
NSF grant will fund science study CFANS is part of a statewide alliance that has received a $2.45 million
grant over the next five years from the National Science Foundation
(NSF). The grant will be used to participate in NSF's Louis Stokes
Alliances for Minority Participation program.

Listening sessions set for UMore Park Six listening sessions are being held this month to gather ideas and
input for a new University of Minnesota-founded community being planned
on the site of UMore Park in
Rosemount. Each listening session will be held from 5 to 7:15 p.m.
