CFANS Advisory Board
The primary purpose of the Advisory Board of the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) is to bring a diversely external perspective to the College.

The CFANS Advisory Board has a dual role: an internal role to advise on initiatives that take place within the college and the University of Minnesota, and an external role to liaise with the stakeholder community and various constituencies. More specifically the duties include:

  • Being a resource to the college
  • Being informed of Minnesota agriculture, food, and the environment and communicating significant developments, perspectives, and opportunities
  • Engaging in ongoing dialog with the dean of the college via telephone, email, etc.
  • Being visible to students and faculty
  • Provide advice and counsel on CFANS’ vision and strategic direction and challenge our thinking and ideas regarding new products and services
  • Provide a perspective about the current realities of government, the industry and academia, as well as future forces and trends

Through these partnerships and networks, we aspire to:

  • provide high quality community outreach activities
  • develop business/collegiate partnerships that facilitate the formulation of research projects of mutual interest and benefit
  • build a network of community advocates to help promote CFANS
  • strengthen relationships with alumni and friends
