The College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences is
committed to providing academic advising to all students in the
college. Perhaps no other relationship that students develop with
faculty on the campus can be as positive as the advising relationship.
Advisors can provide guidance and insight, advice and counsel, as well
as challenge and support students.
The faculty of the college is dedicated to providing quality
advising support for students. To accomplish this goal, almost all
advising is done by the faculty. The college is unique in that
advisers have all volunteered to advise undergraduates and have gone
through training to familiarize themselves with the curriculum as well
as University policies and resources.
All new students in the College of Food, Agricultural and Natural Resource Sciences are assigned an academic advisor.
Advising assignments are completed by early in the first semester
of enrollment. During orientation you will be assigned an advisor, or
will receive information about how and when your assignment will be
made. Wherever possible, the person making your assignment will try to
match you with a faculty member in your area of interest. For example,
if you were interested in human nutrition, you would likely be assigned
someone in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition faculty.
