Undergraduate Strategic Plan

Future Learners, Future Leaders CFANS Annual Undergraduate Education Event On February 25, 2011, CFANS held it's 3rd annual event celebrating undergraduate education in the College.  This event -- Future Learners, Future Leaders -- was designed to give CFANS faculty the opportunity to provide input into the ongoing undergraduate curriculum initiative. Next Phase of Undergraduate Curriculum Underway

The next phase of the CFANS Undergraduate Curriculum Initiative is now underway, with the appointment of a temporary Faculty Oversight Committee (FOC). This group will help determine the process for finalizing majors and specializations and endorse the overall approach to undergraduate education outlined in the undergraduate strategic plan. The process, timeline, and committee membership was shared during the fall semester College Assembly on December 21.

The committee is comprised of representatives from each department with substantial cross-over with the Undergraduate Policy and Review Committee, major advisors and undergraduate strategic plan task forces.

Over the next couple of months, the FOC will develop a curriculum plan in consultation with the departments. In early spring, a group of small committees, yet to be named, will develop the details on the majors.

The overall goal of this effort, which will be based on best practices established in educational literature, is to help meet the changing needs of students and prospective employers. That, in turn, will help reinvigorate the college, increase enrollment, create new opportunities for the faculty and result in a strong, enduring identity for the College.
