Two from CFANS recognized for professional excellence (5/14/2012)
University-wide honors have been awarded to two members of the CFANS community: Department of Soil, Water and Climate professor Mark Seeley, left, is a recipient of the President's Award for Outstanding Service. Adviser Mark Bellcourt, right, is this year's Josie Johnson Human Rights and Social Justice Award winner. The awards are designed to recognize excellence in service to the university, its schools, colleges, departments, and service units, and to honor University of Minnesota faculty, staff, and students who, through their principles and practices, exemplify Josie R. Johnson’s standard of excellence in creating respectful and inclusive living, learning, and working environments.
Organic program earns high grades in national rankings (5/2/2012)
The U of M's organic farming research, teaching and outreach have earned a "top six" ranking from the Organic Farming Research Foundation among U.S. land-grant universities. The U -- several units, including CFANS -- scored a perfect 8 points on criteria that included maintaining certified organic ground, providing student training on an organic or sustainable farm and offering an organic major, minor or certificate program. The information gathered for the rankings is shared with the fast-growing organics industry.
